  • September/October 2013: Greece – Freediving, Sailing & Cruising (read below)
For the fifth year in a row, Ocean Encounters welcomes you aboard a 2004 Bavaria 49-foot/15-meter sailboat off to sail the Greek Islands !Imagine spending 6 days and 6 nights on board a yacht with world-class breath-hold divers Fred Buyle and William Winram. Group size will be limited to 6 students for an intimate freediving/sailing experience.
In 2013, avid Watermen Fred and William will guide you through the blue waters of the Saronic Gulf for you to discover and explore the underwater world the way it was meant to be experienced: while breath-hold diving. The Saronic Gulf includes the islands of Aegina, Salamis, and Poros along with smaller islands of Patroklou and Vleves. The port of Alimos, one of Athens’ port, lies on the northeastern edge of the gulf. The Saronic Gulf is considered by most as the absolute sailing paradise combining fair weather, many anchorage points and short passages. Ocean Encounters’ teaching style includes the latest freediving techniques, environmental awareness and, of course, fun! Thanks to their extensive knowledge of the underwater world and its inhabitants, they add a primordial component that is often underestimated in freediving education.Any level of practice is welcomed. Ocean Encounters instruction spans from beginner basics to fine-tuning for advanced freedivers.
1*, 2*, 3* AIDA and CMAS courses are available upon timely request (*), for groups of 3 people minimum for the same level. Certification fees are extra. (*by August 31, 2013).

Due to popular demand, we now have three consecutive cruise weeks.  All cruises leave and return to Athens’ Alimos marina (Kalamaki port) which is located 8 Km South of Piraeus port and 30 km from Athens’ El. Venizelos International Airport and is readily accessible by public transport from several points in Athens including the airport.
The 1st cruise is leaving port on the early afternoon of Saturday September 21, 2013 and returning on late afternoon Friday September 27th, 2013.
The 2nd cruise is leaving port on the early afternoon of Saturday September 28, 2013 and returning on late afternoon Friday October 4th, 2013.
The 3rd cruise is leaving port on the early afternoon of Saturday October 5th, 2013 and returning on late afternoon Friday October 12th, 2013.

Bookings are taken on a first come, first served basis due to limited spaces per trip. The price of the cruise is available upon request and is based on double occupancy per cabin. That includes 6 nights on the yacht, water and fuel for the yacht, freediving instruction by William and Fred as well as evening presentations on breath-hold diving with sharks, whales and other marine animals.
